Notes
A new score for the rescue sequence from Cast Away, from the ship passing the raft to the flight home. The original music has been removed and replaced with my own, written to the picture with the sound effects kept.
The cue begins with high strings alone as the ship slides into view behind him, before he knows it is there. The piano enters in fragments when the whale wakes him, and the strings climb with the camera up the side of the ship. As he reaches towards the bridge, the piano gives its first full statement of the theme, thinning each time he tries to call out. It carries over into Kelly's kitchen as a changed fragment as the news reaches her. On the plane four weeks later the tune returns, and the harmony, held unresolved through the whole scene, finally finds its home key only when his face comes into view.
