Who is responsible

What is collected

Through the enquiry form, only what you type into it: your name, your email address, what the enquiry is about, your message, and optionally a link, a timescale, and the title of a work. Alongside it the site records the page you first arrived on, the site that referred you, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string.

Why

To answer your enquiry, and to keep a record of work discussed. The IP address is recorded to rate-limit the form against automated submissions. The landing page and referrer are recorded to understand which parts of the site lead to enquiries.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to someone who has contacted a business about its services, and protecting that form from abuse.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept for 24 months from the date they are sent, then deleted. If work follows, records relating to that work are kept for as long as tax and contractual obligations require.

Who else sees it

Nobody. Enquiries are stored on the server that runs this site and emailed to an address on this domain. They are not shared, sold, or used for marketing, and you will not be added to any mailing list.

Google Analytics (below) is told that an enquiry was sent, which service it was about, and which work it named, if any. It is never sent your name, your email address, or your message.

Playlists

If you make playlists, they are kept under a code of three words that the site gives you, such as large-pink-chair. Nothing else is asked for: no name, no email address, and no account. What is stored is the code, the names you give your playlists, the tracks in them, and when the code was made and last used. Anyone who has the code can open and change its playlists, so keep it to yourself.

To stop codes being guessed, the site keeps your IP address for a day each time a code is made or a wrong code is entered, then deletes it. A code nobody has used for 24 months is deleted with its playlists, and one that never had a playlist is deleted after 30 days. To delete yours sooner, delete its playlists, or email the code to [email protected].

Cookies and analytics

Two cookies are strictly necessary and are always set. A session cookie keeps the enquiry form working and protects it against cross-site request forgery; it ends when you close the browser. A cookie named consent remembers your answer to the cookie question for six months, so you are not asked on every page.

A third, named listener, is set only if you make or enter a playlist code. It holds the code, so this device can open your playlists without your typing it again, and lasts a year from the last time you used it. Forget this device on the playlists page deletes it.

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and whether they go on to send an enquiry or open a checkout, so it can be improved. Its cookies (_ga and _ga_38EVP3R6MY) are set only if you accept them, and last up to two years. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses, and nothing is shared for advertising.

If you reject them, or have not answered yet, no analytics cookies are set. The page still sends Google a cookieless signal that a page was viewed, with no identifier that links one visit to the next, which Google uses to estimate overall numbers. The lawful basis for the analytics cookies is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time; doing so deletes them.

The same control is linked from Cookie settings at the foot of every page. Google's own account of what it does with the data is at policies.google.com.

Videos are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com and load only when you click play; nothing is requested from YouTube until you do. Instagram images, where shown, are served from this site rather than Instagram.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email [email protected] and it will be dealt with within one month. If you are unhappy with the response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
